Business metrics

Is this branch doing better on Swiggy or on Zomato?

Both platforms publish a business-metrics report. They name things differently, publish different halves of the same figure, and never on one page. Here the metrics they have in common are set side by side, with the gap between them.

What it does
  • The metrics both apps publish, named once

Swiggy says “Carts Builds”, Zomato “Cart builds”. Each row here is one figure, named once, with each platform's value beside it and the difference between them.

  • The missing half worked out

Where one platform publishes a percentage and the other a count, both ends are derived, so every row compares like with like.

  • Sales, ratings and operations

Net sales, delivered orders, average order value, restaurant cancellations and the sales they lost, poor ratings, delays, availability, kitchen prep time and food-ready accuracy.

  • The funnel and the customers

Impressions to menu to cart to order, and orders from new, repeat and lapsed customers — what a settlement can never show, because it only describes orders that happened.

  • Ads and offers

Ad spend, sales and orders from ads, return on ad spend, orders with an offer and the discount the restaurant funded.

  • Whole portfolios in one file

A business-metrics export covering forty restaurants is split to every branch it names, and any it cannot place is asked about by name.

How you use it

3 steps

  1. Download the business-metrics report

Daily, weekly or monthly, from each platform.

  2. Upload it

It files itself against every branch it covers.

  3. Compare

Pick a brand and a branch, and read the two apps against each other.

Start with one brand and last month’s settlement file.
