Swiggy's “Other Charges and Refunds”: ads refunds, onboarding fees and the rest

· 5 min read

Near the bottom of Swiggy's Payout Breakup sit two lines that are charged against the period rather than against any order: Growth Investment In Ads, and Other Charges and Refunds. They are why the order payouts never add up to the money that arrived — and they are where some of the least-explained deductions live.

What is under Other Charges and Refunds

The line is a heading. The items it is made of are listed directly underneath it, each with its own amount — for example an onboarding fee, a consulting or marketing service, an ads refund, or an upfront payment returned. The same items appear with their periods and invoice numbers on the Growth Investment Other Charges sheet.

The sign tells you which way the money went

AmountMeaningEffect on your payout
Negative, e.g. −1,179A charge — Onboarding FeesTaken off
Positive, e.g. +1,179A refund — Upfront payment returnAdded back
Positive, e.g. +40,001A refund — Ads (Refund)Added back

A charge and a refund of the same size can sit side by side and net to nothing — which makes the heading show zero while two real transactions happened underneath. Always read the lines, not only the heading.

Growth Investment in Ads works the same way

A negative Growth Investment figure is ad spend taken out of your payout. A positive one is money back on ads. Either way it belongs in your advertising figures, not in commission — and a refund must not be counted as spend.

Putting it together

Net payout on orders − Growth Investment in Ads − other charges + refunds = Net Payout

If that sum does not land on the payout Swiggy declares, something on the statement is unexplained. If it does, check that each charge is one you agreed to — an unfamiliar service fee is worth a question.

MenuMetrics does this for every order in every file you upload: it rebuilds each payout from the platform's own columns, checks it against what settled, and lists what does not tie — with the arithmetic — ready to raise as a claim.

Reconcile every payout, not a sample

MenuMetricsreads the Swiggy and Zomato reports you already download and checks every order against what settled. Start with last month’s file.
